Many of us wish that we could have the power to slow down time every now and then, but this seems like something only made possible in a superhero or sci-fi movie…right? The concept of being able to slow down our day is actually quite possible and it all comes in the form of how we perceive time. There’s a simple explanation for how time seems to speed up as you get older. For a one year old, one year would represent 100% of their life. As that baby got older, the percentage would get lower and lower each consecutive year. At 18 years old, one year would represent 5.56% of their life. As we live through more years, our brain perceives that each further year happens much quicker purely because it represents a smaller portion of our lifetime. With this in mind, what are some of the best ways to slow down time? Take a look at the super-handy info graphic from Key Retirement below which takes a look at 5 of the most useful ways in which we can all slow down our perception of time – including the likes of mindfulness and staying intellectually curious.
